VZ Navigator is a GPS-enabled application that transforms your Verizon Wireless phone into a powerful navigation device. With VZ Navigator, you get visual and audible directions to a destination, you can locate businesses and other places in an area, get a map of a location, bookmark favorites and recent searches, and even share locations with others.

Getting Started

Download VZ Navigator on your phone, and subscribe for a monthly rate of $9.99 or use it when needed for $2.99 a day. VZ Navigator is pre-installed on some Verizon Wireless phones, and some have a shortcut to the application from the phone's main menu called 'Navigation'. Navigation

VZ Navigator provides spoken directions with audible prompts that play back automatically as you approach a turn giving you adequate time to change lanes. If you miss a turn or change your route, VZ Navigator will automatically supply new directions. Without returning to the main menu, you can look for local businesses along the route or at the destination, and send any step of the route as a place message to another mobile phone with VZ Navigator.

Is traffic constantly slowing you down, making you late for important appointments? VZ Navigator can reroute you around traffic saving you time and money. VZ Navigator incorporates historical and real time traffic flow data to provide an optimal travel route to your destination. Now, you can avoid traffic incidents due to accidents, disabled vehicles, construction, and more.

• Traffic Flow Maps
Get an idea of how traffic is in your area. VZ Navigator provides maps with real time traffic conditions. Color coded maps reflect current traffic flow conditions. Incidents, such as traffic accidents, are indicated with markers on the map.
• Traffic Incidents Lists
VZ Navigator provides a list of recent traffic incidents in your area. Receive detailed information of each incident, including type, location, and time.
• Traffic Alerts
Avoid sitting in traffic for extended periods of time. If a traffic incident occurs ahead on your planned route, VZ Navigator will alert you of the event and provide an optional path around. With just one click, you can be detoured around traffic, helping you stay on schedule to your destination.

Local Search

Local search lets you find local businesses and attractions such as restaurants, gas stations, theaters, or ATMs.

• You can either search for a category such as 'Gas Stations', or type in the name of a business without specifying a category.
• VZ Navigator displays matching businesses sorted by distance from your current location or from another address, an intersection, an airport, a recent location, or a bookmarked location.

Then VZ Navigator lets you navigate to that location, view it on a map, call that business, bookmark it, or send the location to others.

Gas Finder New!

Want to save money at the pump? VZ Navigator will help you find the least expensive gas in your area and provide directions to a local service station. VZ Navigator displays search results with current fuel prices, sorted by distance from you current location.

Movies & Events New!

Are you looking for entertainment in your area? VZ Navigator can help you find local events occurring in your area. You can even look up movie times at local theaters. Once you have selected your movie or event, VZ Navigator will provide directions there.

Weather New!

Are you traveling in an area and don't know the zip code? No worries. VZ Navigator provides local weather forecasts for your current location. Receive the temperature, visibility and weather conditions for the current time, as well as the forecast for upcoming days.

My Places

My Places provides quick access to bookmarked locations including recent searches and favorites. Any search result, or any address you enter is automatically bookmarked in Recent Searches and you can save and name any of them as a favorite. VZ Navigator lets you save your Home and Work addresses separately, for even faster access. Select a recent search, favorite location, Home, or Work without returning to the main menu of VZ Navigator, and navigate to that location, view it on a map, search for a nearby business, or send that location to someone else.

Maps

VZ Navigator's Maps let you view a map of your current location, another address, an intersection, an airport, a recent location, or a bookmarked location. Using keys on the phone you can easily move around the map with pan, tilt, and zoom functions. You can scroll to a place on the map, search for a business nearby, or request a route to that location. You can save that location on a map as a favorite and give it a name for future reference.

Place Messaging

VZ Navigator v3.1 and above users can share location information by sending Place Messages. You can compose a Place Message through the Messages option in the main menu or in the options menu under My Places, or search results screen. In addition to sending Place Messages to other VZ Navigator users, the messaging feature will automatically send a standard SMS message to other Verizon Wireless phones that don't have VZ Navigator and give you the option to send email messages to others. When you receive a Place Message from another VZ Navigator-enabled phone or VZ Navigator website, the application will automatically place it in the recent searches, so you can easily view it on a map, get driving directions to it, search for businesses around it, or simply add it to your favorites.

VZ Navigator Website

You can now search for a location and view it on a map on a desktop or laptop, using the VZ Navigator website at http://vznavigator.vzw.com. You can save locations in the favorites folder and recall them from the recent searches folder. You can also send Place Messages to your phone, other Verizon Wireless users, or to any valid email address.

Synchronization

Recent Searches and Favorites folders in your VZ Navigator website can be synchronized with the same folders on a VZ Navigator mobile phone. The Verizon Wireless network will automatically detect if folders need to be synchronized and will ask you if you want the synchronization to occur now or at a later time.

Support for Spanish

The user interface of VZ Navigator mobile application including all menu screens, function buttons, and both visual and audible navigation instructions are now available in Spanish. For most phones, if the language setting is set to Spanish, VZ Navigator will launch in Spanish. You can also change the language setting from the VZ Navigator options menu. Instructions may vary by handset. Features may vary on different models. VZ Navigator screen images may vary by device. Subject to specific terms of use. Text Messaging fees and airtime may apply when using certain features. Only available in the National Enhanced Rate and Coverage Area. Always use caution when displaying your location to third parties. Do not attempt to enter or change information while driving. Traffic features are limited to major roadways in certain areas only.
